8th International Friendship Festival “Gorazde 2005” was opened on 1st of August before thousands of people who gathered to be a part of this spectacular and the most significant event in this year.
Messages of peace and love have been sent from the central stage, a place where different cultural events is about to happen during the following next days.
Songs about Gorazde filled the first night of the Festival and dance studio Mo Stars delighted the audience with their attractive performance.
Honor to raise the flag of the Friendship festival belonged to Katrin Erve, President of Collective “Bretange-Gorazde”, a Collective, owing to which a dream of friendship and a story on Gorazde festival began.
Mayor of city of Sarajevo Mrs. Semiha Borovac sent the greetings to participants, guests and residents of Gorazde, as well as congratulations to people of Gorazde for this successful event.
Prime Minister of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde Salko Obhodjas and Mayor of Municipality of Gorazde Mustafa Kurtovic held welcoming speeches. They were also representatives of organizers and major sponsors of Gorazde Friendship Festival.
“Owing to our friends across the Europe, this, according to European standards, small town in eastern Bosnia and the smallest canton in BiH, became a big town and a big canton. This is exactly an example where one can apply a well-known saying about friendship, which says that there is nothing that makes one country so broad like friends at a distance, because it them who create geographical latitudes and longitudes.
It is exactly the reason why this Festival lasts and will last in the future, regardless of any political change, because this way Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde, slow and sure is getting involved in the European courses, and since not so long ago this Canton is a member of Association of European cities and regions for culture, which will give a new significance to our festival and open the door for arrival of new European friends to our town, bringing different cultural and artistic contents”

Friendship festival “Gorazde 2005” gathered around 800 participants from BiH, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Spain, France, Turkey, Ecuador, Italy, Peru and, for the first time, here arrived participants from Australia and Hungary.
