Director of OSCE’s Regional center in Sarajevo visited Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde

Successful application of the Law on education!

Director of OSCE’s Regional center Mr. Cem Basman and Head of OSCE’s Regional center in Sarajevo Ms. Marina Bouwde visited Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde on 6 September 2005. In the meeting at Prime Minster’s of BPC Gorazde Salko Obhodjas and after that with Cantonal Minister of education, science, culture and sport Osman Somun it was discussed about the situation in this Canton, education and police reforms, founding of Agency for curriculums, standards and evaluation within the state Ministry, inclusive education, as well as about the Law on high education at the level of BiH. According to Prime Minister Obhodjas, support for realization of projects at the regional level, requested from OSCE, will be provided. This include: construction of quality road from Sarajevo to Gorazde, construction of regional waste dump and better support of Sarajevo Economic Development Agency (SERDA) to the Economic Development Agency of Upper-Drina region (REDRIN) and possible linking of these two agencies.
Director of OSCE’s Regional Center in Sarajevo Mr. Cem Basman expressed his satisfaction over the progress that the administrative bodies of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde have made up to date, especially when we talk about stabilization of the Budget and well implemented reform of education and introducing of nine-years education, by which this Canton can be categorized as one of the most successful ones in the Federation of BiH.
