Meeting with the Chairmen of Associations of veterans’ population

Implementation of the Law on supplementary rights of veterans was given high priority

On 9 February 2006 Prime Minister of BPC Gorazde, Nazif Uruci arranged a meeting with the Chairmen of the Associations of veterans’ population from Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde. Beside the Minister of veterans’ affairs, this meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Association of winners of highest war plaudit, Chairman of the Association of demobilized veterans, Chairman of the Association of disabled veterans and Chairman of the Association of families of dead veterans.
The aim of the meeting was presenting plans of these Associations to be realized in the course of the year, but also discussing the most important issues of the Associations, primarily the issues of financial nature.
On this occasion, the Chairmen of all Associations congratulated the Prime Minister Uruci on his newly elected post and all of them presented the main problems in functioning of their Associations.
The Chairman of the Association of winners of highest war plaudit spoke about the project of offering psychological help and social support to representatives of veterans, which is their highest priority in this year.
The Chairman of the Association of demobilized veterans also pointed out good cooperation with the Government of the Canton and shared the opinion of other colleagues that financial support they get from the Government in equal monthly installments is not sufficient for normal functioning of the above-mentioned Associations. One of the things that deserves special attention when it comes to demobilized veterans is Project of making data base on demobilized veterans, so that this Association and governmental institutions can have updated information on status of demobilized veterans for the purpose of fair distribution of aid to this category of population. Beside this, he also emphasized the major problem of this Association – the issue of employment of demobilized veterans.

Beside regular support, the Association of disabled veterans expects the Cantonal Government to support their Project of cost-free transportation of representatives of veterans between Gorazde and Sarajevo, which had support of the Government in the past.
The Minister of veterans’ affairs informed the present that this Ministry had made a Program of expenditure of the funds allocated for this category of population in the Budget of BPC Gorazde for this year. She also emphasized that this Ministry would finance all projects applied by these associations, in accordance with available finances.
The Prime Minister of the Canton said that realization of the projects submitted by the associations does not only depends on the Cantonal budget, but that it also depends on other possible sources of funding and rational expenditure of the existing funds.
