Event „Days of resistance“ 2008 in Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Gorazde
Remembrance of the days of heroism
Sixteen years ago on 4th of May 1992 early in the morning the first aggressor’s shells fell on the town of Gorazde. From that day to the day when the Dayton agreement was signed this town and its citizens fought the unseen aggression in blockade, with no water, food or any communications and secured a victory. Owing to the enormous courage and unbeatable spirit of its defenders, Gorazde stayed unsubjugated town.
On the date when this town was attacked, delegations of the Cantonal and the Municipal authority, Gorazde Mufti’s office, veterans associations and children from Gorazde and Sarajevo laid flowers on the memorial dedicated to the defenders of Gorazde, by which the event was officially inaugurated. The event will last during the month of May, and all important days of heroic defense of the town and anniversaries of the establishment of first brigades of the Army of BiH in Podrinje will be marked.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for veterans affairs of BPC Gorazde, Admir Pozderovic. On this occasion Mayor of Gorazde municipality and one of the first war reporters from this area, Mustafa Kurtovic also addressed to the present citizens.
The following day in the Culture center Gorazd there was an observance dedicated to this important anniversary with address speeches by Chairman of the Assembly of BPC Gorazde, Alija Begovic, Prime Minister of BPC Gorazde, Salem Halilovic and the Mayors of the three Municipalities within the Canton.
