Pale-Praca municipality was established in 1995 on the area of former Pale municipality. It is located on the river bank of Praca River in Praca valley. Praca is the economic and cultural center of the municipality and it is situated in the south-east part  of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located at a distance of 42 km west from Gorazde and 36 km east from Sarajevo. Height above the sea level of the entire area of the municipality vary from 639 m to 1344 m. The municipality covers an area of 130 km² and the average population density is 12 inhabitants per 1 km².

During the last war, Praca and Hrenovica suffered considerable destruction and all economic entities and livestock were destroyed.

Major part of the population make a living from farming.
