The area of Foca-Ustikolina municipality consists of a part of former Foca municipality, which was reintegrated within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. It makes part of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde. The municipality covers the area of 180 km² and it is located along Drina river with bigger part on the left and smaller part on the right river bank of Drina. It consists of three local communities and administrative center of the municipality is in Ustikolina. Since it is situated on river banks and basins of several rivers, fishing has been very developed in Ustikolina from ancient times. Green oasis and scenery in river basins provide excellent conditions for development of river tourism in this area. On the territory of the municipality there are many monuments and symbols of cultural and historical tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina, making integral part of its history.
According to the census from 1991 there was 5274 inhabitants in the area of present-day Foca-Ustikolina. Today there is just over 2600 inhabitants living here.
Inhabitants of the municipality are mainly engaged in agriculture and small number of them, approx. 150 work in state administration, institutions and several companies.
In the area of the municipality there is one primary school and also one area-school making its integral part. Around 200 students attend classes at this school.
After reintegration of this part of Foca municipality within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina the better part of housing, public institutions and infrastructure was reconstructed.
Foca-Ustikolina is economically undeveloped municipality, but, among other things, it sees its perspective in development of economy and tourism.
