“We are here too”
Tija Mulic, Hamdija Gabela and thirteen-years-old Alen Hedo are members of the Association of cerebral palsy and dystrophy patients and main actors of documentary film made as a result of the project of this Association. The film presentation gathered many residents of Gorazde in the Hall of the Culture center.
In the ten-minute film, which author is journalist Hasan Gabela, simple story about life of people who are trying to be a part of the community, everything is so ordinary but very special at the same time too. Hamdija writes poems, works in the video-shop of the Association and he is always there for other people. Tija is a housewife of happy disposition, nice and simple and even though in the wheelchair, she is diligent and makes greeting cards. She used to hide from looks of other people, but with the time she learned a lot about real values and discovered the meaning of her own life. Alan is a president of the class at Vitkovici school that he attends and excellent goalkeeper at his club. He would like to become computer expert.
These are people who are glade of life and like to live, people who feel, have friends, like to have fun, people who would like to have a good job and a good parking place for their car, they like to go to school, to cinema, direct performances or be good students, good friends, good people. They are really here. It was the aim of the project that was financially supported by the humanitarian organization Care International. “The film is only one of many efforts made in order to familiarize the public on problems and needs of disabled persons and to help the community to accept us as equal persons”, said Mirsada Culov, chairman of the Association for cerebral palsy and dystrophy patients in Gorazde. As a parent of two members of this Association Hamed effendi Efendic spoke about his own experience and sent the message to the parents and the public that more efforts should be made to provide these people to have a dignified life and that they should not be regarded differently from other people. The film was made in production of RTV BPC Gorazde.
The author of the film, journalist Hasan Gabela says: “This is a modest contribution to pay attention to the people that we meet in a street everyday and maybe regard them differently but it is something that we should not do.”
