High interest in big hydro-energetic projects
Representatives of “Calik Holding”, a big corporation from Turkey, visited BPC Gorazde on 28th September 2007. Beside the guests from Turkey, members of this delegation were also Consul of BiH in Turkey, Mr. Jusuf Pusina and ex Prime Minister of the Federation BiH, now Director of company “Bicakcic”, Mr. Edhem Bicakcic.
At the meeting with Prime Minister of BPC Gorazde, Salem Halilovic and Minister of economy, Elfad Masala, representatives of the Corporation expressed their interest in investing in this area and the reason for their visit was getting more information on the possibilities of realization of particular projects.
According to the Director of company “Bicakcic”, who intervened to arrange the visit, they are interested in projects from the area of hydro-energy, more precisely in small and big hydro-electric power plants, but also in other projects in the field of industrial manufacture, which “Calik Holding” also deals with.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Halilovic emphasized that the commitment of this Government is attracting foreign investments in variety of sectors and creating new jobs and also expressed willingness for cooperation with this big Corporation.
According to the Minister of economy, the gusts from Turkey have been informed on the possibility of investing in small hydro-electric power plants on the streams of Drina River (Praca, Kolina and Osanica) by awarding concessions, which will be discussed in details in the nearer future.
Mr. Bicakcic found the meeting very successful, especially because of the cooperativeness of the Government of BPC Gorazde and its readiness to present its own projects, possibilities and the potential of this part of BiH and more concrete cooperation is to be expected.
“Calik Holding” is a big Turkish corporation, which annual revenue amounts to approximately one and a half billion dollars. It employs around 15.000 workers of which 3.500 in Turkey and the rest is engaged in other countries.
