18 September – the date for permanent remembrance!
Organization committees to mark important dates and events from the defensive-liberation war of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde and Gorazde municipality made and adopted the Program to mark 18 September – Day of BPC Gorazde and Gorazde municipality in the joint meeting held on 13 September 2005.
Marking of this important date will last three days and will be filled with appropriate activities, including laying flowers to dead veterans, traditional demonstrative training of the units of Civil defense, reception for representatives of veteran’s associations by the Prime Minister of BPC Gorazde and Mayors of the municipalities within the canton, the premiere of theatre performance “Mother”, sport activities, concert of pop-rock groups from Gorazde, etc.
Joint session of Assembly of BPC Gorazde and Municipal council Gorazde is scheduled for 18 September in the Culture centre. There will also be held a formal meeting, where representatives of executive and legislative power will speak about significance of the date, which is marked as the Day of BPC Gorazde and Gorazde municipality. In this formal meeting, the most deserving individuals and companies, for the first time, will be awarded the highest municipal plaudits – five gold and five silver medallions of Gorazde municipality.
On 18 September there will be opened a regional office of Investigation-documentation center, which headquarter is situated in Sarajevo.
The Day of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde and Gorazde municipality will be marked with many appropriate activities, as befitting the date like this one. In the history of this town, 18 September will be remembered as the date when the units of 1st, 31st and 43rd Drinska brigade of the Army of BiH, in the brilliant and heroic victory, liberated Gorazde for the first time, creating more than 600 m˛ of free territory, which was the reason why Gorazde gained the renowned epithet of a hero town.
