Soon compilation of the unique Information Register!
On 26 September 2005 Heads of Offices of OSCE with headquarters in Foca and Pale talked about application of the Law on free access to information in BiH with Prime Minister of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde Salko Obhodjas and Director of Public relations Anka Curovac. This meeting was also attended by Democratization Officers of the above-mentioned Offices of OSCE.
On this occasion it was emphasized that Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde was one of the first cantons of the Federation BiH that adopted the Strategy for communication with public and appointed information officer. After that, there was established Public relations Office and recently, the Government of the Canton adopted the Guidebook on information access, as well as form of application for access to information, in accordance with the above-mentioned law.
One of the most important tasks is compilation of adequate Information Register, which will provide to the citizens to find out about available information of the Government, its Ministries and Cantonal departments. In the meeting, heads of Offices of OSCE in Foca and Pale made a proposal, which was accepted, according to which Public relations department should compile unique Information Register that will include information on all institutions in the competence of the Canton, such as courts and educational institutions. Printing of the Register in 2000 copies will be distributed in all municipalities within the Canton, and 50% of necessary funds will be provided by OSCE, it was emphasized on this occasion. The only thing left is collection of information for the Register and it was agreed to arrange a joint meeting of the cantonal and municipal information officers with representatives of OSCE in order to exchange experiences and agree about joint promotion of their activities.
Without the above-mentioned and more intensified promotion activity, application of the Law on free access to information will not give satisfying and expected effects, and the purpose of adoption of this Law is to offer free access to any information of cantonal, municipal and other institutions to all citizens. More information on the Government of BPC Gorazde, its Ministries and Departments, citizens can already get on the official web site of the Canton www.bpkgo.ba. In the municipalities of Bosnian-Podrinje canton Gorazde adequate Guidebooks and Information Registers have already been compiled and when the agreement from this meeting is realized, our Canton will again be among the first cantons of the Federation BiH that started with the implementation of the Law on free access to information.
